NASCAR Owners: No National Anthem Protests Allowed

Some high-profile NASCAR team owners say they'll fire any drivers or crew members who refuse to stand for the national anthem.  10 time champion TEAM owner Richard Childress said any of his drivers or crew who protest would get a ride on a Greyhound bus when the national anthem is over.  Team owner and NASCAR's all-time winningest driver Richard Petty went even further.  Petty said any employee who didn't stand for the anthem would be fired and should leave the country.  There were no protests when the anthem was played before Sunday's NASCAR playoff race in Loudon, New Hampshire.   The issue of anthem protests flared up over the weekend when President Donald Trump said and later tweeted that any athletes who protest during the anthem should be fired.  Trump also said NFL fans should turn off TV broadcasts and stay away from games to counter the protests.

Many players, black and white, stood and locked arms in protest before a number of NFL games Sunday.  Several teams stayed in their locker rooms while the anthem was played.
