NBC and MLB Network Commentator Bob Costas joins Jay Mohr Sports to talk about the MLB trade deadline and the greatness of Vin Scully.

Mohr: “What is your favorite Vin Scully moment?”

Costas: “He’s been great for so long, but I think if you had to take a single moment just listen to the 9th inning of Sandy Koufax’s perfect game in 1965. There are a lot of announcers that are great during big moments, but where Vin sets himself apart, is where he captures all the spirits and the anticipation leading up to the pay off…………… “The first time I ran into Vin Scully was at the 1982 World Series, and I said ‘Mr. Scully, I just wanted to tell you how much I admire you and what an inspiration you’ve been, and he looks at me and says, ‘Bob aren’t you nice, and I hear good things about you as well.”

Jay then went on to ask Bob about Vin calling another World Series…..

Costas: “Joe has said publicly that he would be good with it. I don’t know if Vin would go along with it. Vin might view it in his old school way as kind of gimmicky. I think if Fox did it, it wouldn’t be for the whole series but rather for one game. I think it would be a wonderful baseball highlight. I’d love it, and I think everybody else would.”
