Tip's Thoughts

Imagine being so good at one thing, you decide to not do that because you really want to be good at the thing you're just absolutely terrible at.

That's UTEP Basketball when it comes to shooting the from long range. The team shot 62.5 percent inside the arc and made 26 straight free throws, ending the game 34-37 for 91.9%. Yes, the Miners won the game and continue to be undefeated at home as they #DefendTheDon, but fans have to wonder why a team so solid in the lane and from the line, would settle for the long ball. UTEP has shot a scorching 21.6% from deep in conference play, aided by a 6-21 game vs FIU to open up C-USA play. This team could easily be undefeated in Conference play instead of 9th in C-USA, if they'd do the things they're great at. Drive into the paint and get to the free throw line.

Bryson Williams continued to lead the Miners in Points, Rebound and Blocks per game as he poured in 20 points and grabbed nine boards. Souley Boum lead all scorers with 26 and Southern Miss's Gabe Watson paced the Eagles with 20.

The Miners continue their C-USA home-stand Saturday January 11 vs Louisiana Tech.
