Governor Greg Abbott is vetoing funding for the Texas Legislature as punishment for the Democrats' walkout on elections bill. This comes after House Democrats walked out to block the passage of Senate Bill 7. The measure would overhaul voting rights in Texas. Abbott says "funding should not be provided for those who quit their job early." House Democratic Caucus Chair Chris Turner said the move is an "abuse of power."
