Bastrop County Judge Wants To Hold State Agency Accountable For Wildfire

Bastrop County Judge Paul Pape wants some answers from Texas Parks and Wildlife about a prescribed burn that went wild last week. The agency set the fire in Bastrop State Park, and wind gusts soon whipped it out of control. The fire burned more than 800 acres and forced the temporary evacuations of about 150 households. As of Sunday, the Texas A&M Forest Service said the fire is 95-percent contained. On Friday, Pape stated that Parks and Wildlife neither asked for nor received permission from county officials to set the fire.
