A nonprofit group is collecting signatures in hopes of stopping the execution of a South Texas woman. The Action Network has started a petition that they plan to submit to Governor Greg Abbott and the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles. They hope to get clemency for Melissa Lucio, who was convicted of killing her two-year-old daughter in Cameron County in 2008. The group is also urging activists to call the Cameron County District Attorney to urge him to drop the execution warrant for Lucio. Her execution has been set for April 27th.
