The Kingdom was announced as the title of the upcoming ESPN docuseries on the Kansas City Chiefs in the show's first trailer shared during The Disney Upfront on Tuesday (May 13).

"Last season, the Kansas City Chiefs gave ESPN unfiltered access to our lives – on and off the field," said quarterback Patrick Mahomes live on-stage via Chiefs.com. "The result is an incredible six-episode series called The Kingdom that showcases the true heart of our great city, the team, and what it takes to be a member of the Kansas City Chiefs. We dive into the history and legacy of the franchise, from the early days in Texas all the way to our third-straight Super Bowl appearance. It was an honor to be a part of this incredible project, and I can't wait for all of you to see it."

The six-episode docuseries is produced by Words + Pictures in association with Skydance Sports, NFL Films, 2PM Productions, and Foolish Club Studios and will premiere at a later date on ESPN and Disney+. The docuseries is directed by Words + Pictures' Kristen Lappas and produced by many of the team responsible for The Last Dance docuseries chronicling Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls including executive producers Connor Schell, Jason Hehir, Libby Geist and Aaron Cohen, as well as showrunner Matt Maxson.

The Chiefs were defeated by the Philadelphia Eagles, 40-22, in Super Bowl LIX, which spoiled their chance to become the first NFL team to win three consecutive Super Bowls. Kansas City had won three of the past five Super Bowls leading up to the game.
