The NFL is Rewarding Mediocrity by Refusing to Reseed

Dan Beyer: "NFL Owners say they want a reward for winning your division. I am fine with that. If you want to give them an automatic playoff berth, that's good. They want more, they say you should have home field. I am willing to give you that if you will bend on this: do not give them the seed after the first round. Here is the problem, the Atlanta Falcons could have the opportunity to play as many as 2 home games in the playoffs with a record that is sitting around .500. The Minnesota Vikings, or the Detroit Lions if they lose to the Vikings next week, will have a 5 in front of them. A Wild Card team can't play a home game unless a 6 or 7 seed goes on a magical run to the Conference Championship Game. That is absurd. After the first round, reseed it by record. Reseed as they should be. We could be on the verge of a Vikings-Lions rematch in the Divisional Round, not the NFC Championship Game. This would be a 1 vs. 5 seed, and whoever gets the 5-seed is completely screwed. The NFL has gone way too far. You want to give a division winner playoff berth, great. Home game in the first round, that's fine. After that, it needs to end. There is no reason that a 2 or 3-loss team should have basically no shot to host a playoff game at home."

Dan Beyer and Kerry Rhodes react to the current NFL playoff picture. The guys explain why the NFL's refusal to re-seed at any point in the postseason is putting better teams at a horrible disadvantage for no good reason.
